Koder Club

A pilot social club for teens, 12 to 17 years, with Autism who are interested in coding - at no cost!

Expressions of interest for term 1, 2021 are now closed. We will be seeking expressions of interest for term 2 of 2021 in the near future. Watch this space!

ARE YOU:

  • Interested in coding?
  • Aged 12 -17?
  • Keen to build social connections with your peers?
  • Accessing mainstream school and receiving services from the Autism Association?

Then Koder Club might be for you! We are running a social club for teens with Autism – the Koding Club, funded by Telethon. There is no cost to participate in this program.

The Koder Club will allow teens to:

  • Meet new people
  • Make new friends
  • Be a part of an inclusive community for teens with autism through coding
  • Explore coding with Construct, Scratch, Java, Python, Html & CSS

Dates and Locations:

  • Based on expressions of interest, groups may be offered from any of our 7 different locations in the Perth metro area.

“I can't thank you enough for putting me onto Koder Club for [my child] It's nice to hear her talking to other kids outside of school. I was worried because she said the first task was boring last week but tonight [they] expressed that [they] really enjoyed what [they] did tonight in Koder club. Although [they] refuses to turn her camera on so the others can see them, [they are] watching the others and contributing. I even caught them laughing tonight which made me very happy to hear. The zoom format I think has been really good for them in that they feels more in control over eye contact on them and the use of a laptop to communicate has taken away some of the issues they have when it comes to expressing themselves. I am so looking forward to accessing more therapy for their social and overall well-being.”
