Sensitive Santa Sessions Make a Magical Start to the Festive Season
It might be a few more weeks before Santa Claus comes to town, but Sensitive Santa has already visited shopping centres across Perth to make seasonal spirits bright for families.
Coming Together for Christmas
The Autism Association’s annual Sensitive Santa Sessions offer individuals of all ages and their families the chance to visit and take photos with Santa, in a sensory-friendly and supportive environment outside of regular opening hours.
This year we welcomed more than 200 families to sessions presented in partnership with Lakeside Joondalup, Karrinyup Shopping Centre, Westfield Booragoon, Belmont Forum, and Cockburn Gateway!
Making Memories
In addition to running during quiet hours, sessions also included extra time for families to make their Christmas wishes with Santa before taking some festive family photos.
Sensitive Santa’s helpers – members of our Therapy team – were standing by to support visitors in the ways that worked for them and make their experiences enjoyable.
It was fantastic seeing so many people across Perth making merry memories to look back on for years to come.
Wrapping Up
Thank you to everyone who came along to a Sensitive Santa Session this year, and to Santa himself for taking the time out of his busy schedule.
A big thank you also goes out to the participating shopping centres for collaborating with the Autism Association to create accessible, inclusive festive spaces.
These sessions are always popular, filling up faster than Santa’s sleigh speeds from house to house on Christmas Eve! If you would like to be the first to know when future bookings open, join our mailing list below.
