On the Road to Inclusion Across Regional WA
Throughout the year, our Regional team travelled to several regional areas across Western Australia to provide training and consultation to local communities.
This year, the Autism Association of Western Australia visited communities across regional and remote Western Australia to share information and provide support to local communities to increase awareness and understanding of Autism.
From the red sands of Broome to the southern coastline of Albany, the Regional Outreach team has travelled thousands of kilometers to deliver workshops, training, and specialist consultations to families, carers, educators, and health professionals across the state.
Across the year, our team of experienced staff delivered over 20 workshops and provided support to over 200 parents, carers and professionals in regional and remote WA. This year’s itinerary stretched across WA, with our team stopping in Albany, Broome, Bunbury, Esperance, Geraldton, Karratha, and Kalgoorlie.
Workshops at each visit included:
- Understanding Autism
- Autism: What are the Early Indicators?
- Promoting Inclusive Environments
The workshops are designed not only to provide tools and strategies but also to foster community connection. Attendees have the opportunity to ask questions, share their experiences and connect with their community, leaving with greater confidence, practical skills, a support network, and the reassurance that they are not alone.
In addition, face-to-face family consultations were available offering families the opportunity to meet with an experienced therapist and discuss their child’s individual needs.
