Sports Academy April Wrap Up

April 29, 2025

During the April school holidays, aspiring athletes gathered at Newman College, Churchlands, for our Sports Academy Program.

Sports Academy is a social skills program where children and teenagers come together to explore different sports in small groups. Each group was supported in trying a range of different sports, including:

  • Hockey
  • Volleyball
  • Multi-sports stations
  • Netball

These groups offer a comfortable and supported environment to develop connections with peers, build teamwork skills and enjoy getting active.

To make this week possible, we teamed up with some specialist sports coaches from local clubs. You can find out more about the coaches and clubs who joined us and see them in action during the week below.

This is all done through fun and engaging sport/fitness activities. The development of these key skills allows participants to improve their social inclusion and be more connected in the community. Parents, caregivers or support workers can submit questions or enroll a participant through the enquiry page on the ACE website.

Following the program, participants were supported by our therapy team and specialist coaches to link in with their local community club to further their sporting skills.

Our April program provided participants with the opportunity to engage with inclusive clubs, learn some new skills and have fun with their peers!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the April Sports Academy. We look forward to seeing families and coaches again in October.
