TASTEE Mealtime Support
The Autism Association TASTEE team supports autistic individuals with everything to do with eating, providing comprehensive mealtime assessment and recommendations for mealtime needs.
TASTEE - The Autism Specific Team for Everything to do With Eating
The TASTEE team are specialist speech pathologists, occupational therapists and psychologists who work collaboratively with families, therapists and medical teams to provide education, support and advocacy for autism and mealtimes.
The TASTEE Team bridges the gap between mealtime challenges and their relationship with behaviour, nutrition and hydration, sensory needs, communication, and co-occurring conditions. The team plays a pivotal role in engaging medical teams when required to ensure each person’s needs are appropriately identified and are supported.
TASTEE provides comprehensive mealtime assessment and recommendations for mealtime needs such as:
- Picky eating
- Problem feeding
- Dysphagia
- Choking
- Mealtime equipment
- Signs/symptoms of difficulty at mealtimes
- Consultation and link-in support for accessing specialist feeding disorder services
Collaborative Mealtime Support
We work collaboratively with individuals, families, therapists, support workers and coordinators, medical teams, and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) to provide:
- Holistic mealtime assessment, consultation and recommendations
- Mealtime education and training
- Mealtime equipment prescription
- Specialist referrals to external services
- Support and advocacy for Autism and mealtimes
